Just a picture of something that decribes my book(:

Quote By Alexander Solzhenitsyn

"Good literature substitutes for experience which we have not ourselves lived through." - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
I think the quote means that literature can give us an experience that we haven't lived in real life. We can read literature instead of living the actual experience and it will feel like we actually did it. You could read a book about someone skydiving and it might feel like you're skydiving if you get into the book and the author tells a lot of detail.

My book relates to this quote because the dog in my story, Buck, is stuck out to live on his own. He is out in Alaska fighting the snow blizzards and other mean dogs. It made me feel like I was out in the cold with him. I don't want to go through that experience in real life. Buck is a brave, strong dog and he is surviving very well.

Songs

The first song I would choose for The Call of The Wild's soundtrack is "Arms of An Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. I chose this song because they play this song in the ASPCA commercials which are really sad because they show abused animals and the dog in my book is being abused. The second song is "They Don't Care About Us" by Michael Jackson. I chose this song because the people in my book act like they don't care about the dog. They kick him and abuse him and this song is probably describing how the dog feels.

The Call of The Wild

I finished Peter Pan, and I chose the book, The Call of The Wild. It seems like an interesting book, but very sad. It's about a dog that lives on a farm. He eventually gets kidnapped and taken to some kind of kennel. There, he is abused and hit with clubs and whips. He is forced to sleep out in the cold snow and he is supposed to find food and water all on his own. I think it will be a more interesting book as I read on.

Peter Pan (The Ending)

Peter took Wendy out to the Mermaid's Lagoon and they saw Mr. Smee with Tiger Lily, an indian daughter. Peter hatched a plan to rescue Tiger Lily. Peter was great at impersonations so he made his voice sound like Captain Hook's and he hid. Captain Hook was not in the boat with his assistant, Mr. Smee so Peter started talking like Captain Hook and told Mr. Smee to let Tiger Lily go. Mr. Smee did as he was told. Captain Hook came back and saw Mr. Smee letting Tiger go. He yelled and Mr. Smee fell overboard. Peter was still talking like Captain Hook when he himself saw him and was about to slash his neck when Wendy screamed his name and Peter took off taking Tiger Lily with him. Then late that night, Captain Hook kidnapped Tinkerbell and made her tell him where Peter lived. He went to Peter's underground house and put poison in his medicine. The next morning, Peter was about to drink it, but Tinkerbell stopped him. Captain Hook had captured the Lost Boys, Wendy, Michael, and John. Peter flew up on the ship just as they were about to walk the plank. Peter fought Captain Hook and he flew into the ocean for the crocodile to eat. Wendy went home with Michael and John after the fight. Before Peter left, him and Wendy made an arrangement that she would come to Neverland every spring cleaning. Peter forgot about Wendy after a few years. Many years later, Peter came back looking for Wendy. He found her daughter, Jane instead and she went to Neverland to be just like her mother.

Peter Pan

In the story Peter Pan, he comes into the children's room and the mother sees him. She pushes him out the window and he leaves his shadow behind. The mother picks it up and puts it in a drawer. Peter comes the next night and looks for his shadow. He can't find it so he starts to cry. His sobs wake Wendy and she comforts him and helps him look for his shadow. They found it and he starts to try to put it on with soap. Wendy sows it on for him and he flys around the room acting like he did all the work. Peter was very full of himself and he always gave himself compliments. Peter asked Wendy to come along with him to Neverland. She said that she would go, but only if she could take her two younger brothers. Peter agreed and he sprinkled them with Tinkerbell's fairy dust and they flew away to the second star to the right, or better known as Neverland. Tinkerbell didn't like Wendy. She was very jealous because Peter was giving Wendy all the attention. While Peter was out flying, Tinkerbell told the Lost Boys to shoot Wendy with an arrow because it would make Peter happy. They shot Wendy and found out that it was a woman. They quickly pretended to be doctors and try to heal her. Peter returned and gave Wendy some pretend medicine. Then, they all built a house around her. The Lost Boys made Wendy their mother. They never really had a mother, so she took care of them and tucked them in at night.

Quote

“Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it. It enriches the necessary competencies that daily life requires and provides; and in this respect, it irrigates the deserts that our lives have already become.” - C. S. Lewis

I think the speaker meant that literature doesn't just tell about reality and life, it adds things to it and makes it more interesting. It makes life more fun and it makes life worth living.

This relates to Peter Pan because he doesn't like being bored. He doesn't want to grow up and be a boring adult. He wants to stay young and be care free. He has an interesting life and he loves his life. He never wants to grow up and he doesn't want Wendy or the Lost Boys to grow up either.
